Brief Description of the Event

This 40-hour training course prepares participants for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, effective January 1, 2026. Led by Ms. Phoebe Wong, an Educational Psychologist and BCBA, the course combines theoretical and practical learning over multiple weekends. It focuses on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, targeting individuals interested in serving those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special education needs.

Objectives

  1. Provide participants with a solid foundation in behavior analytic principles and techniques.
  2. Prepare attendees to fulfill the requirements for RBT certification.
  3. Enhance professional credentials and employment opportunities in various settings.
  4. Develop confidence and competence in implementing behavior intervention plans.
  5. Emphasize ethical practices, cultural competence, and collaboration in a multidisciplinary context.

  • Date: March 22-23, 2025 (Saturday-Sunday), March 29-30, 2025 (Saturday-Sunday), April 26, 2025 (Saturday)
  • Time: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM (40 hours total)
  • Mode: Face to face
  • Venue: Unit 1211, The Metropolis Tower, 10 Metropolis Drive, Hung Hom
  • Medium of instructions: Cantonese, supplemented with English

Course Contents

  • How to operationally define target behaviors and reliably collect data.
  • How to implement evidence-based interventions to help clients learn positive behaviors while eliminating maladaptive behaviors.
  • How to assess the client’s level of motivation and engagement, as well as identify reinforcers and punishers.
  • How to make ethical decisions and uphold clients’ dignity.
