Expressive Vocabulary Test, Second Edition (EVT-2)


The second edition of the Expressive Vocabulary Test (EVT–2), often used in conjunction with the PPVT–4, offers an unbeatable system for comparing receptive and expressive vocabulary. Both instruments meet the needs of both general- and special-education professionals for vocabulary and language assessment, progress measurement, Reading First goal attainments.


Ages: The EVT-2 can be used with individuals aged 2 years 6 months and older.


Administration Time: The EVT–2 takes about 10 to 15 minutes to administer, although testing time varies case by case.


Several significant enhancements have been made in this first revision of the EVT:

Standardization


More than 5,500 individuals were tested, with data from about 4,000 of them used for the normative scores. The remaining data contributed to the validation studies. The norm sample matches the current U.S. population along parameters of sex, race/ethnicity, geographic region, socioeconomic status (SES), and clinical diagnosis or special-education placement. Standardization was conducted in fall 2005 and spring 2006 to obtain fall and spring grade-based norms.
