Revised Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (RHRSD)

The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression was developed in a medical setting and, for more than 30 years, used to evaluate response to antidepressant medication. This revision rests on the solid foundation of research and clinical use that supports the original scale. And like the original, it provides a quick measure of symptom type and severity in adults.

The RHRSD retains the Hamilton items, which cover both psychoaffective and somatic symptoms. However, it adds features that make it more clinically useful. These include a 76-item self-report version that can be completed in the waiting room and eight critical items that address DSM-IV’s criterion C for Major Depressive Episode.
